- Provide Color Guard and Firing Squad for veteran funerals

- Provide funeral dinners for the family of deceased veterans of Post 217
- Raise the Flag at Home football games for Sidney High, Lehman High and the OHSAA Playoff Football Games
- Raise funds for the Department of Ohio Gifts for Yanks program for veterans
- Participate in the Department of Ohio Buckeye Boys State program for young men
- Participate in the Department of Ohio Americanism program for high school youth
- Participate in the Department of Ohio Oratorical program for high school youth
- Sponsor an American Legion Baseball team and a Junior Legion Baseball team.
- Provide scholarships for high school seniors
- Provide funding for the 4th of July city fireworks
- Provide a Social Quarters for Legion family members
- Dispose of retired American Flags
- Support programs of the Boy Scouts
- Provide meals / training facilities for military recruiters
- Host Veteran Service meetings
- Sponsor local youth sports activities.
- Provide Hall rentals for weddings, anniversary dinners and fundraisers for the community
- Provide the Hall to the United Way, Amos Memorial Public Library – Book Fair, local blood drives  and other 501(c)3 organizations for events
- Help decorate the graves of fallen veterans on Memorial Day
